An echocardiogram (cardiac echo) is set of images of the heart produced by ultrasound waves. The images help visualize the structure and function of the heart and its valves.

The echocardiogram helps us evaluate symptoms that could be due to heart disease, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, fainting spells, or edema. The test helps diagnose and monitor heart conditions, such as heart valve problems, congenital heart defects, heart failure, and more. It can also evaluate how well your heart is pumping blood.

An echocardiogram can be obtained as standalone service if you have a referral or order from a licensed practitioner.

If you do not have a referral, the echocardiogram can only be obtained in the context of a consultation provided by our physician. Note that bundle (discount) pricing will apply if the echocardiogram is performed as part of a screening or diagnostic evaluation. Please call if you have additional questions.

Typically, no special preparation is needed for the echocardiogram but you need to be able to lie flat (or nearly flat) on the examination table. The table head may be raised and pillows may be provided for support or comfort.

You will be asked to lie on an exam table while our cardiac sonographer applies a gel to your chest and moves a small device called a transducer over your skin. The transducer emits sound waves that create images of your heart on a monitor.

The test usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of echocardiogram and the detail needed.

Yes, an echocardiogram is a non-invasive and safe procedure with no known risks. It's similar to the ultrasound tests used during pregnancy.

The results can provide information about the size and shape of your heart, the thickness and movement of the heart walls, and the functioning of the heart's valves. It can also detect any fluid around the heart or blood clots inside the heart.

Yes, you can typically return to your normal activities immediately after the test.​​

We kindly request full payment on the day of testing. This allows us to keep our fees as low as possible. If an echocardiogram is performed as part of an evaluation, bundled pricing may be provided at a discount.

We accept cash and all major credit cards. Payments may also be drawn from HSA accounts.

Our cancellation fees are:​

• $65 for cancellations within 12 to 48 hours prior to the scheduled time of your visit.

• $95 for cancellations less than 12 hours prior to the scheduled time of your visit.

We are "out of network" with all insurance plans but will gladly provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please be advised that the amount you can expect to be reimbursed, if any, depends on the specific terms of your plan. Medicare beneficiaries should not expect any reimbursement from Medicare or supplemental plans.
